1Are webinars still effective in 2026?
Yes, with three conditions. Cashflow Coaches sees webinars work when the offer is high ticket and sold on a call, when ads run for only a few days before each webinar, and when a sales team follows up after it. Take away any of the three and results drop fast.

2What does our cold-traffic data show?
Our webinar funnels on cold Meta ads. Real clients, not typical.
| Webinar funnel | Ad spend | Cash collected | Return |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brand new offer, brand new industry, no list | Cold Meta ads, 60 days | $1,230,101 | From $0 |
| Brecken Troike's webinar, tracked in our sales dashboard | $8,836 | $326,552 | 36.96x |
| Live webinar launch, cold traffic | $710 net | $40,000 | 56x |
| $15K business-to-business offer | Meta ads, no retargeting yet | $66 per booked call | n/a |
Was the $1.23M a one-time launch spike?
No. The first webinar brought in $15,000, and two setters were hired the same day to keep up with calls. Month one collected $586,252. Month two collected $587,299.
One client, not typical. By day 30 the team was 3 setters and 4 closers.
What did the cheap registrations look like?
In the $40,000 launch, registrations cost $7.08 each and clicks cost $1.35. Most plan on $15 to $25 per registrant. The $40,000 came in while the webinar was still five days out. We built the ads, the sign-up page and the emails that warm people up before it starts. Not typical.
3Is interest in webinars falling?
Yes. In our keyword research this month, US Google searches for most webinar topics fell over the last 12 months, while searches about video sales letters rose.
| Search term (US) | Searches a month | 12-month trend |
|---|---|---|
| webinar funnel | 110 | down 67% |
| evergreen webinar | 90 | down 81% |
| webinar best practices | 70 | down 64% |
| best webinar platforms | 390 | down 56% |
| webinar | 22,200 | down 18% |
| video sales letter | 590 | up 81% |
| what is a vsl | 1,300 | up 50% |
"webinar funnel": 260 down to 70
"video sales letter": 390 up to 1,300
US searches. Each bar is one month, oldest on the left.
Fewer people are looking up how to build a webinar. That does not mean fewer people attend them, or that they convert worse. These are also small numbers.
Our read is that people looking for how-to guides are moving to VSLs, because a VSL is easier to make. Operators who track top earners say nearly every business they see at $1M a month runs a webinar funnel.
4What do high ticket webinars convert at?
Benchmarks from other high ticket webinar funnels on cold traffic, not our results.
| Number | Benchmark |
|---|---|
| Cost per registrant | about $20 to plan on; strong campaigns land much lower, weak ones near $40 |
| Registrants who show up live | 20% average, 30%+ good |
| Still there at the pitch | 80%+ |
| Attendees who book a call | about 30% |
| Booked calls that show | 70%+ |
| Calls that close | 35%+ |
| Return on ad spend | 3x to 5x going well, about 1x when not |
At average numbers a webinar still makes money. In one worked model, $5,000 of ads at $20 a registrant gave 250 registrants, 50 live attendees, 15 booked calls, 11 calls taken and 4 sales at $3,500. That is about 2.6x on cash.
5Why do some webinars stop working?
- They promote too far out. Same-day sign-ups show at 40% or more. Sign-ups three or more days out show at about 10% or less.
- They cut the close short. Low booking rates often trace back to a rushed pitch. One straight-to-checkout close converted 3%.
- Nobody calls after. Operators report that setters calling attendees and no-shows over about 10 days can double a webinar's return.
- They judge it too early. You lose money during the 2 to 3 days of promotion, then cash comes in on the day and over the next 7 to 14 days.
- They fix it with more spend. In one example, an agency raised spend on every webinar and the cost to get a client climbed to $6,000. Most failed tests actually break even. Fix the weakest step first.
Find your weakest number in the health check at the top, then make the matching fix:
| Weak number | The fix to try first |
|---|---|
| Cost per registrant over $30 | Five truly different ad angles, and judge cost per qualified registrant. In one example, $10 leads were poor fits; qualifying in the ad raised lead cost but cut the cost per qualified lead. |
| Show-up under 20% | Promote 3 days out at most. Send the join link by email and calendar invite, not text. Remind on the day. |
| Viewers gone before the pitch | Move proof to the first 10 minutes and tell them early what they will leave with. |
| Under 30% of attendees book | Stay in the close for an hour or more. Answer the most common questions in order. |
| Under 70% of calls show | Offer call times for today and tomorrow only, then confirm each call twice. |
| Under 35% of calls close | Listen to 10 lost calls. The question that keeps coming up belongs in the webinar. |
If every number looks fine and cash is still flat, the leak may be outside the webinar. Find the exact bottleneck in your business.
6When does a webinar beat a VSL?
- The idea is new to the buyer. In education-heavy markets, one operator reports a one-hour training funnel beating a direct VSL funnel by about 3x at the same cost per call.
- You want warmer calls. One operator selling the same offer both ways saw 75% to 100% show rates on calls after a webinar with a deadline, and each call was worth $3,000 to $5,000 instead of $500 to $1,000.
- You have a small sales team. The same operator reports running $500,000 to $900,000 a month with 2 closers and 3 setters, and credits webinars.
- People come back. About one in three webinar buyers watched more than one session first, so each webinar warms up the next one.
To build one, get the webinar funnel builder Claude skill. It plans the sign-up page, reminders, run of show and follow-up from your offer.
7When does a VSL beat a webinar?
- You sell a done-for-you service. Done-for-you buyers usually won't sit through a webinar.
- Buyers already know the problem. They want a fast answer and a call, not an hour of teaching.
- Nobody can present every week. A webinar needs someone live on a fixed day. A VSL is recorded once.
- You need calls every day. A webinar books calls in waves. A VSL books them steadily.
Or run both. One operator keeps a VSL running all month, then invites every lead who did not buy to a live founder webinar at month end. See the VSL funnel guide for that side.
| Webinar | VSL | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | New ideas, education-heavy offers | Known problems, done-for-you |
| Calls arrive | In waves after each webinar | Every day |
| Call quality | Warmer: 70%+ show, 35%+ close | Cooler: 60%+ show is the target |
| Your time | 60+ minutes live each week | One recording |
Answer all six questions to get your first move.
One operator aims webinars at businesses with about 1,000+ leads and $40,000 to $50,000 a month. Below that, a VSL usually gets you calls sooner.
8Do automated webinars still work?
Yes, a little less well than live. Automating a webinar costs about one point of return on ad spend, for example 4x down to 3x. One team found that a recording shown at a fixed weekly time beat instant on-demand replays: fewer people showed, but more watched to the end. Start live, then automate what already works.
9Worked example: Leo switches from a VSL to a webinar
Leo is a made-up consultant with an $8,000 offer built on a method his market has never heard of. He spends $5,000 a month on a VSL funnel. His buyers watch, but they don't believe it yet.
| Line | His VSL now | A webinar at average benchmarks |
|---|---|---|
| Ad spend | $5,000 | $5,000 |
| Booked calls | 11 at $450 each | 15 (250 sign-ups, 50 live, 30% book) |
| Calls that showed | 5.6 (50%) | 10.5 (70%) |
| New clients | 0.8 (15%) | 3.7 (35%) |
| Cash | $6,667 (1.3x) | $29,400 (5.9x) |
The webinar column uses average benchmarks, not a promise. Leo's VSL leaks because cold buyers who are not sold on the idea book, then skip or stall on the call. A webinar does that teaching before the call. If Leo's buyers already knew the problem, his VSL numbers would look very different, and the VSL could win. If you are weighing the same switch, see if you qualify and we will run your numbers both ways.
10What to do this week
- Put your current numbers in the health check at the top. Write down your weakest one.
- Answer the six chooser questions. If it says webinar, read the webinar funnel guide. If it says VSL, read the VSL funnel guide.
- If you already run webinars, cut promotion to three days and send the join link by email, not text.
- Plan who calls attendees and no-shows over the 10 days after each webinar.
- Run the full webinar profit calculator with your price, and check your return in the ROAS calculator.

Frequently asked questions
Are webinars still effective in 2026?
Yes, for high ticket offers sold on a call. Search interest in webinars is falling, but the format still converts cold traffic. One webinar launch built by Cashflow Coaches went from $0 to $1,230,101 in 60 days on cold traffic. Results are not typical.
What is a good webinar conversion rate?
For a high ticket webinar that sells a call, operators commonly report about 30% of attendees booking a call, 70% of those calls showing up and 35% closing. That works out to roughly 7 sales for every 100 people who attend live.
What is a good webinar attendance rate?
For a live webinar on cold traffic, operators commonly report about 20% of registrants showing up as average and 30% or more as good. 10% to 15% usually means something is broken.
How much does a webinar registrant cost?
On cold webinars, $15 to $25 per registrant is realistic, $10 to $15 is great, and anything over $30 is hard to make work. About $20 is a safe planning number. In one of our launches registrations cost $7.08. Not typical.
Is a webinar or a VSL better for high ticket offers?
A webinar wins when buyers need teaching and trust before they buy, and when you can present live every week. A VSL wins when buyers already know their problem, when you sell a done-for-you service, or when you want calls every day. Many businesses run both.
Are webinars always virtual?
No. The word usually means an online event, but the same model works as an in-person workshop or seminar. For cold ad traffic, an online webinar is far cheaper to fill and run, which is why high ticket funnels use it.
Which is better for webinars, Zoom or Teams?
Either can host a sales webinar. Pick the one your buyers already use, that tracks who showed up and how long they stayed, and that sends the join link by email. The platform matters far less than the reminders and the follow-up.
What are the top 10 webinar platforms?
We do not rank platforms. For a high ticket webinar, check four things: it tracks live attendance and watch time, it can replay at set times, it connects to your CRM, and it works well on a laptop. Then spend your effort on the funnel around it.
Not sure if a webinar fits your offer?
We look at your offer, your buyers and your numbers, and tell you whether a webinar, a VSL or both would work. If you're not a fit, we tell you what to fix first.
